What does the ARMR Report do?
The ARMR Report (Algorithmic Risk Management Research) began as Bret’s quest to uplevel his own trading technique. The ARMR that he put into his own approach to portfolio management brought solid results, if he could only get himself to stick to the protocols. He began sharing the proprietary actionable information with a public audience to challenge himself to more completely follow through with the ARMR plan for how to invest in the stock market.
What you have access to here is a behind-the-scenes approach to how to trade through the perspective of a seasoned hedge fund and portfolio manager. More than that, you have access to watch Bret trade his own personal assets. Which means: What you will learn through the ARMR experience is intensely personal. While Bret manages money for clients, he also runs four portfolios that contain his own money. These form the foundation of all Bret’s trading strategies and techniques.
What the ARMR Report does, then, is two-fold:
- brings you inside the mind of a successful money manager with 35+ years experience
- trains you to learn how to approach trading the same way as professional portfolio managers
How can the ARMR Report help me become a better portfolio manager?
The ARMR Report Live Trading Desk Experience is designed to improve your skills as a manager of your own capital. Specifically, all ARMR services focus on two essential broad elements:
1) preservation of capital/risk management
2) capturing upside/creating alpha
Through the creation of a hedge fund-like live trading desk (delivered through the Slack platform) the ARMR Report program offers individual investors a specific and focused mentorship-led, community-based, real-time environment in which to access the power of institutional investing as an individual investor.
What does that really mean?
- You gain daily access to proprietary actionable information that allows you to invest wisely
- You learn professional processes for fundamental research so that you choose sound stock ideas and only put them in your portfolio when they have been thoroughly vetted
- You follow algorithmic trading strategies to take the guess work out of entries and exits
- You engage risk management protocols so that you know how to protect yourself from yourself (and how to protect capital and profit)
Additionally, the membership portion of the ARMR website houses supportive and educational resources developed and delivered to assist you in upleveling trading skills through video, audio, and written training materials.

How does the ARMR Report live trading desk work?
Located via your Slack login, the live trading desk is available to all members 24/7/365. Meaning, you have access to your peers and to posting questions, research, ideas, etc., at any time that suits your schedule.
On trading days, the ARMR Experience begins 8:30am Eastern (GMT –4) with the ARMR Morning Meeting livestream, in which Bret offers an overview assessment of current market conditions, shares technical analysis of chart patterns, reviews the ARMR Risk Monitor, ARMR Portfolios, and any general training he deems relevant to prepare you for the upcoming trading session.
At this time Bret also responds in real-time to questions submitted by ARMR members so that each individual portfolio manager can customize an individual trading approach.
Shortly before the 9:30am Eastern opening bell, Bret opens the ARMR Trading Desk livestream (which streams all day until the closing bell). In this forum you have access to watch Bret trade, hear his instructions and directions, and ask questions that Bret answers in real-time so that efficient trading decisions can be made, plus continuous coaching to further develop skills, strategy, and trading protocols.
The ARMR Trading Desk Slack platform is open 24/7/365 and contains several threads to support your experience.
We’ve designed the live trading desk to clearly demarcate how to find the information you need. The desk has six active threads/channels to support you in various aspects of trading, including:
ARMR Education – This thread is where Bret drops teachable moments, answers to ARMR Pro Member questions and the like.
ARMR Investing Way - This thread is home to the ARMR Morning Meeting, Captain's Note and other posts related to the ARMR approach to all types of trading (day, swing, investing).
ARMR Portfolio Updates – Only Bret updates this thread so you’ll see the latest movements in his portfolios and can use the ideas as inspiration for how to create, manage, and trade your portfolio(s).
ARMR Live Pro Desk – All the trading action happens in this thread. Drop your ideas, questions, comments, and trades for real-time conversation with others.
ARMR Insider Ideas – Want to know what your fellow traders are investigating? Check out this thread for fresh thoughts on possible stock picks.
ARMR Random – Got other subjects to discuss? This final thread is for any topics not necessarily related to trading (this can include personal anecdotes and images, research ideas, news commentary, etc).
Watch this video for a quick overview of how to navigate and interact in Slack:
Your typical day on the desk would look like this (all times in Eastern | GMT -4):
8:30am ARMR Morning Meeting Livestream
9:25am ARMR Trading Desk Livestream begins
10:30am General Market Update
11:30am Trading Update
1:30pm General Update
2:30pm General Update
3-4pm Live Commentary
4pm ARMR Trading Desk Livestream ends
During the times between scheduled updates the desk is very active: each thread contains conversations and updates from Bret and ARMR Members. Plus, Bret trades, compiles research, and works on trade-related resources.
In between scheduled updates you will:
- See Bret’s live screen so that you can watch the trades he’s doing, the research he’s exploring, and the whiteboard development he’s working on.
- Hear Bret interview management if he has a call scheduled
- Listen to conference calls and hear Bret’s interpretation of information
- Ask questions and hear his replies directly to you through coaching and analysis geared toward helping you make trading decisions
The ARMR Trading Desk Slack platform is open for all trading sessions plus after hours so that you can communicate with your peers, plan and prepare, learn and query at any time of day or night.
The ARMR Trading Desk Livestream is open for all trading sessions with the exception from time to time that Bret may be off the desk for vacation or extenuating circumstances.
How much money do I need to have in my account to benefit from being an ARMR Insider?
Whatever you have is the perfect amount for you. Traditional hedge funds have minimum requirements but that’s part of the beauty of the ARMR Report virtual hedge fund: You bring any amount of capital you want to invest – maintained in your own private account (on any platform where you feel comfortable trading) - and we provide the environment in which you learn to protect capital and capture upside through mentorship, education, information, training, algorithmic support, and community connection.

I am not familiar with Slack, is it easy to use?

What other resources are available to me as an ARMR Insider?
In addition to the live events (Morning Meeting, Trading Desk, Monthly Macro Meeting, Trading Psychology Masterclass), you also have access to all of this:
- 4 model portfolios (Bret runs his own capital following four different styles of management [for diversification]: Growth, ETFs, Dividend, and the Indexes with approaches that you can apply to your own portfolio)
- whiteboard research (because every idea should be thoroughly vetted before you put it into your portfolio)
- execution strategies (our risk monitors identify entry and exit points through proprietary algorithms)
- exclusive resources and trainings (covering a range of topics that include technical analysis, risk management, and effective trading strategies)
- proprietary investing rules (Bret has written three manuals for day trading, swing trading and long-term investing that cover all kinds of scenarios)
- Captain’s Note (Bret writes this market-focused update every morning to helpy you focus your mind and organize your thoughts around current market trends and conditions that will affect the trading day, including where he plans to place his attention to best protect capital and capture alpha)

Do I have to be on the desk all/every day to benefit from being an ARMR Insider?
Absolutely not! We have many members who have day jobs and only access the desk at certain times for scheduled updates (i.e. Morning Meeting 8:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am update, 1:30, 2:30, 3-4pm). Slack also affords you the option of setting up notifications so that you will receive messages whenever Bret updates the portfolios, which will efficiently help you execute your own trading decisions. Additionally, the Morning Meeting replay is available immediately after the livestream recording; this allows you to access the daily preparation at a time convenient to you.
We have several members who have day jobs -- they're not on the desk for the full trading session either.
However, they report receiving a lot of actionable benefits from:
- direct access to ask Bret questions at their convenience
- receiving the ARMR Morning Meeting replay and notes prior to the trading day
- submitting their stock ideas to the ARMR algos for information related to entries and exits
- setting Slack notifications so they get updates on market information and trading execution as it happens on the desk
- access to a full library of company research, whiteboard information, trading strategies, checklists, cheat sheets and videos to strengthen your personal trading approach
Bret recently addressed this very question in an ARMR Week in Review livestream. You can watch a short clip here.
I don’t day trade, will I still find value on the live trading desk?
How long does a subscription last?
Do I have to renew each year?
